Raising new leaders

In preparation for my forthcoming long-term absence in my local church, I have assigned specific duties and responsibilities to the members of the worship team. Last Sunday was the pioneering day of all the newly-ordained tasks. As a leader of the team, I was so blessed to see them “functioning” very well; keeping in mind that these kids are servants of the Lord and their service to the Lord is never in vain. I was really happy to “see” how they would probably be without me. It’s the Presence of God that we need and not anybody else.

I am particularly happy and greatly blessed with Ate Erlyn’s leading us in worship last Sunday. At first she was hesitant with her new assignment. Then we all recognize that promotion comes from the Lord and this is the time she is called to step up. During worship, the congregation felt the presence of God as we sing and praise altogether. All glory be unto God!

Thank you Lord for raising leaders. Thank you Lord for the willing hearts to serve. Thank you Lord for oneness and teamwork. Thank you Lord for camaraderie and friendship. Thank you Lord for using us for Your kingdom. We want to serve You mightily and faithfully. Bless Your children. Amen.

Missing Heaven by 18 inches

I was browsing my files and stumbled upon one of my old scribbles.

While preparing for tonight’s [Obsessions 121405] message, I came across a little tract with a title, ‘Missing Heaven by 18 inches”. The title made me wonder, what could possibly be the “thing” that the small paper refers to. I thought of the Bible, mine is about 6-8 inches only. I decided to read it, probably took only a minute or two, and discovered the mystery.

To my surprise, 18 inches is the distance between the heart and the head. The article talks about how many have come to know the Lord only “intellectually” but “not with their heart.” A relationship with Christ is a personal experience and not simply academic cognizance.

Nobody wants to miss heaven by 18 inches. Do you?

Last Sunday, our topic at church was about prayer. After the sermon, Pastor Aries asked everybody to pray for whatever it is that we want God to do for us. I said a simple prayer with a lot of trust. Pastor Aries said that we’ll hear from each other next week how the Lord responded to our prayers. Just now, I received my request in full and even more! The Lord granted me a lot of favor today and blessed me beyond expectation. Thank you, Lord. I am overwhelmed.

This is the year of God’s favor for me. Amen.

Answered prayers! Praise God!

We had a meeting at the MYF office last night for the missions trip. Bro. Mark gave us updates on the preparation.

God is faithful. He provided for the car and accommodations for the entire six months stay. We’ll be staying together instead of being hosted by different families. It will be more practical for the team with this setup. Thank you Lord.

We are still praying for open doors to be able to share the vision of White Harvest. Nonetheless, we trust in the mighty and wonderful work of God. Our God is an awesome God!

Who would have thought that it will only be a few weeks before we fly back to the States? It’s amazing how time flies. Before I know it, it’s already June!

We have our final meeting for the trip on June 2nd. I’m still not ready (didn’t even start packing yet!). I have to make sure that the worship team at our local church, my family, my housemates, and colleagues are properly oriented on the truth that I’ll be away for roughly six months. Most of all, I have to make sure that I’m ready for this mission. It’s a faith trip and everything is laid to God’s working in us.

Who am I? As the song goes, nothing but “a vapor in the wind.” But I thank God for the privilege to serve Him. ‘Lord, here I am. Send me.’

We had a meeting on Sunday for the US trip. Before we head to the office, the team checked the site for the first time. Praise the Lord for a wonderful site for the ministry! They are starting with the road construction. I could imagine the buildings and infras to be installed. Especially the orphanage. Thank God for His wonderful work. All for His glory.

I am reading a book by Ray Johnston titled, “‘What If It’s True?’ Unleashing the Power of the Resurrection in Your Life.” It’s a good book and it explains in detail how Christ’s resurrection can change a person’s life. I was in Chapter 4, and the topic has a title: “Because of the Resurrection…You Can Discover That You Matter to God.” I was surprised to find my self in tears as I go through the pages. The chapter describes the scenario when Mary came to anoint Jesus’ body but instead found an empty tomb. She was in despair and state of hopelessness, with her Lord dead. But hearing just one word changed everything; the Lord called her by name (John 20:16). She was encouraged. The Lord is alive. He knew her name.

God knows my name and yours, too. And we matter to God. What an encouragement.

Angel in disguise

I believe in angels. The Bible tells us a lot about them. But on Sunday night, I knew I had an encounter with one.

At the church, my Pastor talked about miracles happening in the early church of the New Testament. It was because the believers were like family moved in love that the Spirit of God blesses them bountifully. Miracles happen and believers were added day by day.

Late in the afternoon, I attended the meeting with our mission’s team. God has continually shown His favor on us especially as regards the land situation. It’s like, “all things work together” scenario. After the meeting, I had to talk to Bro. Mark about other matters so I was left behind. On my way out, somebody called me from a corner. The alley’s a little dark so I didn’t bother until I got under a light post. Then I realized Kuya Arnel’s been waiting for me there for more than 30 minutes. Then he recited his lines:

“I have decided that I’m going to plant to you my cell phone as a seed. I would not be doing this if I hadn’t confirmed it from the Lord. I have long decided to give this to you; I believe in the principle of planting and sowing. I don’t know how you’ll take it, but I want you to have it.”

What do you expect me to say? I was…shocked. This is my brother and I’m humbled that he found me to be a fertile land for sowing seed of blessings. He handed me a nice paper bag with the phone plus all the accessories.

What made me accept the gift is what I believe the Lord’s doing in my life. Before 2008 started, I claimed that this year will be the year of God’s favor in my life. And I know that He’s continually showing me His favor since. This is another one from the loving Father. I’m expecting more soon. Thank you, Lord.

TESTIMONY

I am the fifth child from a humble family in the Philippines. My father had a train accident when I was six years old which led to his early retirement. We were orphaned by our mother when our youngest was in fifth grade; two were still in high school; and my eldest sister and I were in college. I earned my degree through scholarships; while my eldest sister got hers while working as a student assistant. Since graduation, we shared the financial responsibility at home.

I work fulltime as a University Research Associate at the University of the Philippines (UP), my alma mater. My sister and I support our three younger siblings’ college education. One is a senior Nursing student; another is a junior Electronics and Communications Engineering major; and our youngest, now a college freshman taking up Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. It is tough to be a breadwinner but the hardest part is actually to be a “mother” at home. As a big sister, I practically mothered the “three kids” especially when our Nanay went to the Lord.

It is a blessing to belong to a loving Christian family, my father being the first believer at home. I have an elder brother who serves as the Pastor at my local church. My siblings and I share the joy of serving the Lord through the ministries at Lord Jesus My Provider (LJMP) community church. I am privileged to serve the Lord outside our local church through the Malolos Youth Aflame (MYF), with advisers Bro. Mark and Sis. Nora Racette and the MYF team. I am also a member of the White Harvest Ministries Board of Directors.

Four years ago, I was in a conference when I first heard Bro. Mark share the vision of having a resource center in the city. I was elated. A few years later, the vision expanded to a Christian complex with a youth center and orphanage. The streets would show how much orphanages are needed in the Philippines. I was orphaned by my mother at 19; yet I felt lost like a new-born kitten. How much more the many homeless children on the streets? And just imagine the souls that would benefit from this project. A bountiful harvest for Jesus. I couldn’t keep myself from praising God for this wonderful vision. And I personally prayed about it to happen one day.

The Lord is generous and He opened avenues to make this vision into reality. Bro. Mark asked me to join the team and pursue the vision. I was totally overwhelmed with the idea. I prayed about it, shared it with my father and siblings and asked counsel from my Pastor and Church elders. Practically speaking, it would be impossible for me to go since I have a family to support, kids to send to school, a career to flourish, a church family to be with—my life is in the Philippines. But GOD IS AWESOME. They all blessed me to go as it is God who calls people to work in His vineyard. My father even told me not to fret; God’s name is Jehovah Jireh. He provides and compensates.

Right after I said yes, I was led to read the book of John chapter 15. Verse 16 says, “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you” (NKJV). I claim God’s favor in Jesus’ name.

Praise the Lord for His loving kindness. He is faithful to me and my family and He is to you. We walk by faith and not by sight. I pray that the Lord will also use you to embark with us in this journey.

Luke 14:15-24

At the core meeting last Sunday, Bro. Mark shared with us the story in Luke about the parable of the Great Supper. Several were invited to join the great supper but everybody gave an excuse. One bought land, another had oxen, and still another got married. The master became angry and instead called on literally anyone on the streets. He even said none of his invited guests would taste his supper.

As we dug into the truth of these verses, something stuck me like lightning bolt: Valid excuses do not count. God despises excuses. I suddenly thought of all the many excuses I had before which seemed to me as valid at that time. It was not acceptable. I felt sorry. Thank God for speaking to me that day.

We had the first core meeting yesterday after going back from the US trip. Bro. Mark and Sis. Nora were back on June 21st . They said a lot of brethren are extending greetings and thanks to us. We are so blessed with the testimonies they shared about how they were blessed by the group while we’re there and even when we went home —especially the young people.

It was nice to see the core team again. There is so much work in the pipeline—beginning July 1st, the big outreach. We have seminars and workshops lined up, too. Plus, the Freedom Concert 2 in November. This year, we are pushing for 6,000 souls to witness the Lord’s hand in the teams.

One thing though, Bro. Mark said that when he came back he sensed a powerful attack from the enemy in the body of Christ. Actually, we all did. The church seemed very lukewarm and weary. The kids in the teams have conflicts in school and team practices, etc. Even us, personally, are being attacked. I have troubles with my ear; Red is having problems with his tonsils and might have them removed. He encouraged us to be watchful in our ways especially in our walk with the Lord—the devil is a deceiver.

We want the best for the Lord in the coming months of the team. God bless the MYF!

Special occasions always bring tears to my eyes.

Yesterday we celebrated Father’s Day at church. I shared a short verse from Psalms 17:6. Then, we called every father in the room to sit in front. Each one had someone to give them a special message—mostly children. When it was my father’s turn, our youngest stood up and shared her message. It was like there’s an automatic tear button activated. I believe everyone was blessed with that short program.

Ayres has been doing a great job in the youth ministry.

Since coming back from both trips (US and Bangkok), I have been in charge of the worship team at church. I introduced them to some new exercises and encouraged them to be ‘in the Spirit’ during practice in preparation for the Sunday worship celebration. Somebody else is the ministry head however, circumstances made me somewhat take over. We are having group devotion prior to practice now. I have also requested the elders to provide new stands for the guitars and other equipment. Since there’d been conflicts in practice schedule, we agreed to have additional practice after Sunday service.

I pray that the Lord would bless the worship team. We pray for the Lord’s direction for us. We humbly asked to be used mightily in His vineyard for His glory. Amen.

Final meeting

On Sunday, April 15th, will be the final meeting of the MYF-US team. All matters will be finalized and instructions, itinerary, must-know, etc. will be given. On Monday, we will meet with the City Ministerial Council and present another project that we scheduled to happen when we return from the trip. Huh! It’s just a few days away! Less than two weeks to go and we’re flying! Exciting!

Update on the US trip

Yesterday, the Core and the ministry heads had another meeting to update on the US trip. Everybody was present. We were informed of our host homes; me and my partner will be staying at a Pastor’s house with his 75-year old mother. Bro. Mark said we are strategically housed close to each other, so we can see the others anytime. It felt good to know everybody’s close by.

Finally, we got the van we’ve been praying for. The rental was overwhelming as it cost US$2,100! God blessed us so much because a brother already paid the cost! Praise God!

We are scheduled to leave Manila on April 24 however we found out that all flights were taken for that date. That gives us April 23 to go instead. The Thrive Conference will start on the 26th and we have no other option but leave earlier. We are still waiting for another airline to check if we can still go on the 24th. We are expected to stay in the US until May 23.

Aside from the Thrive Conference on the last week of April, we will be ministering to other churches in the US. Bro. Mark has invitation from several churches and we will come to their services. I will be joining the theater arts group and prepare for short performances while the other leaders will focus on worship. We will be preparing short talks and bible studies as well.

Our major prayer right now is our finances. As of last Thursday, our account has US$5,350.00. The lowest roundtrip ticket price available right now is US$1,202.00 each. That leaves us roughly five people ensured to go. We are twelve in the group. We are listed by seniority and I belong to the next five in the list. We pray that before we go, the support would cover the airfare. Please pray with us. Thanks!

The final US trip meeting will be on April 15. By then all other matters will be finalized.

Ministry Updates

I have a lot of marvelous things to say in the ministry, and it's all because of God's favor! Praise You, Lord!

1) The Ushers' Training went well. Everybody's ready for the challenge come concert day. Lord, continue to give us the strength and passion to serve You.

2) We are ready for the Freedom Concert. After all the preparations and hard work, here comes the real thing. Nearly 10 days more before concert and may the Lord's name be lifted up amidst the 5000 souls in the Dome.

3) The MYF leaders received the Lord's favor last Tuesday. We got our visas! WOOHOO! We are going to the 2007 Thrive Leadership Conference at Granite Bay, California in April! This is the second miracle. The first is the Bayside Church's invitation to us to attend--covering our accommodations and regitration fee for the entire duration of the Conference. Now, we are laying our faith for God's third miracle for the team--the airfare expenses. We know the Lord will take care of that. Thank you for keeping us in your prayers.

Tomorrow will be another month. Oh my, it’s September! August has been quite busy in the MYF. The seminar on the book of Revelation has concluded after the fourth Friday. It was a powerful one. We averaged 200 young people every meeting. Praise God! I pray that what they learned from that seminar guide them in their young lives, especially to the unbelievers—that they be drawn to the Lord.

Tomorrow we’ll resume the Nights of Obsession. I pray for more young people to attend and be blessed.

A rebuke from a leader

I have always seen Pastor Mark as my leader. In the MYF ministry where we're in, we had gone to so many wonderful things I haven't thought I could get involved in because of his leadership. He is a faithful man, and God blesses the ministry because of his heart. He has taught us a lot in leadership from discipline to attitude to faithfulness--helping us to develop as good stewards of Christ.

Last Sunday, I had an open rebuke from Pastor Mark. I was late for our meeting and he asked what is the reason for this. We have our youth fellowship at my local church every Sunday afternoon at 4pm. The MYF core meeting is at 5:30pm. It's quite a long travel from our church to the MYF office so I always end up missing at least the first part of the meeting. I am really sorry. I know it's nothing personal between us, I don't take it against Pastor Mark. Now, I got to figure out how I can manage to fix this schedule.

I know he has always looked at us like his children. And I love him for caring for us like a real father and equipping us to be strong leaders. Thank you, Pastor Mark for caring for me and helping me be more disciplined as a youth leader.

Please help me think of ways how I can 'move' the schedules for the benefit of us all. Thanks.

Prayer for the Missions

Pastor Aries and the Pastors in our city are asking prayers for their upcoming missions trip to China. It's for the equipping of our Chinese Pastors brethren in the country. I think a delegation will be leaving on Juy 9th.

Pray that they will have enough support/provision for this ministry and that they will be safe during the entire mission trip.

Not Ashamed.

Friday night was my third time to teach at Nights of Obsession. I had a conflict in schedule and should have switched schedule with another core member but I chose to stand—I had a conviction.

My text came from Romans 1: 16, “I am not ashamed of the gospel for it is the salvation of God to everyone who believes; first for the Jews, then for the Gentiles.” It took me 30 minutes to discuss the topic. I’m thankful the youth stayed with me the rest of the time. Thank God for an attentive and participative audience.

My prayer is that God touched the hearts of those young people and ignite the fire in them to share the Good News. The Word of God is the only way people would know salvation and we are asked to be the agents to seek and save the lost in Jesus’ name.

Last Sunday, my little sister, Tan, got to lead the Bible study for the youth fellowship. Her text was based from 2 Chronicles 30:18-27. My little sister is teaching Old Testament! Whoa!

Her topic was about how your prayers would reach heaven. Timely one I thought. And I was blessed with the way she led the group. Here are the points she emphasized:

1. God’s pardon and forgiveness is a necessity (confession).
2. A heart that seeks God (and not anything else).
3. Worship with gladness (as in rejoicing/feasts in Israel).
4. Encouragement for each other
5. Unity and agreement (if there ain’t unity, God will do something else)

She is the youngest in the group and I’m so happy to hear her grow in faith. Thank God.

Last Sunday was another MYF Outreach. The theme was something like: Friendster.com. Nowadays, a lot of Filipino young people are ‘addicted’ to this. Most kids have their Friendster account. I don’t. And I’m not planning to have one.

The outreach turned out well. We have around 800-1,000 young people attending. Redner shared the message. It was about repentance. The worship team led a good worship. The dance team was a blast. But my personal favorite is the story portrayed by the theater arts team. It was a story of childhood friends who eventually crossed paths again. This time, the girl is in the darkest state of her life—she can be convicted of murder (which was actually her boyfriend’s doing) while the guy is in the prime of his life. She ran into him (who loved her eversince) to seek help and he took blame for the crime instead. It made my heart crush as I see from afar how the young man held the hands of his friend and wipe the blood with his shirt. It was an unconditional love he had for her.

A lot of our values are eroding as a consequence of fast-track systems available. For instance, the theater arts team portrayed a story of how a young girl had had relations with a drug pusher; as a result of skipping the courtship stage and jumping straight to committing into relationship through the texting-chatting style. I have nothing against technology, but what I’m saying is, responsibility is primary to every individual in whatever decision he makes.

Attention: Youth Leaders’ Conference

We have a conference come May this year. Unlike the one we did in December, this one’s for the youth leaders; catering to their needs. It is scheduled on the 26th and 27th of May, and targets 150 young leaders from different churches in the city. At the moment, I think there are only less than 30 tickets left.

I think my brother, Pastor Aries, will be one of the speakers. I really want him to speak to the young leaders; he’s a humble heart and is a good speaker, too. For that, the Lord has blessed him! He was ordained recently and now carries the title “Reverend” before his name; although he obviously couldn’t care less.

We, in the youth body ministry, are busy preparing for a full-blown concert crusade we plan to launch in November. The Lord is very gracious to make the deal for us and get the 5,000-6,000-capacity venue. I’m excited to fill that place with lost souls! Oh Lord, bless this one for You! The music ministry and the theater arts team are really on the hype. Pray for the success of our projects.

Last Sunday we had a core meeting at the MYF office. Everybody’s present! Pastor Mark mentioned about being happy and outgoing outside but actually ‘dying’ inside…to the point of death. I don’t know but somehow there’s a part of me that reacted to that statement. Am I like that? Was the enemy successful in crushing me down? I do not want to consider that idea. Christ has made be strong through His power. I am well-taken cared of and is loved dearly. And I will say once more, my Father loves me so. I will not be moved.

Just to highlight what went on.

So we went to Hong Kong and (an afternoon) to China.
Saw a lot actually…people, places, things! Exciting!
Bought very few pasalubong, anyway, I didn’t intend to…Haha!
Met a lot of tourist guides (& tour drivers), guests personnel, et al and gave each of them a Philippine Mango Ball candy!
Learned a few Cantonese (Thanks to the Hotel personnel Alex and Sam).
Received a thank you letter from the hotel management (after commending their service thru email).

I just want to say, I had a great time. It was really a break! Thank God!

Final word: Disneyland is awesome!

Yup..this time the PRIZE and not the PRICE... after so many hard work, we finally have a chance to take a little break...the CORE TEAM is going to HONG KONG! Yay!

Our tour is on Friday, 24th up to Monday, 27th. We won't be landing until 9:40 pm Monday night--that gives us four whole days and three nights to enjoy. Disneyland, here I come!

I really want to see Tarzan's tree house... well of course, the Princesses. But I heard that it's Pooh who's really the star in Hong Kong. We'll see...

This month has been very busy and 'moving' for me...

MYF'S NOW TO LIVE THE LIFE YOUTH CONFERENCE

After several months of preparation and hard work, the MYF team was able to push through with the aimed provincial-wide youth conference. It was originality planned to be four days—two-day sessions each for Districts 1&2 and 3&4, (December 27-30) respectively. However, several reasons led us to have it only on the 29th and 30th. Nonetheless, it was such a powerful event and God did bless it with His presence.

What a joy it is to see young people eager to meet God! The entire team poured energy, time and treasures to make it happen. It was a team effort, and praise God for the commitment of each member of the ministries and working committees. Each team is composed of youth volunteers from various churches in the city and nearby towns. I think we have around 150-200 youth workers all in all. But all glory is to God. It is He who made it possible. We are so grateful for His work in the ministry.

Roughly 3,000 young people were there in the conference. I am yet to see the exact number of registrants. But mind you, we were able to occupy every single seat in the main sanctuary plus the seats in the courtyard, and the three session halls (as overflow rooms for those you do not fit in the main sanctuary). When the pictures are out, I’ll make sure to post some here.

As you know, I was appointed as the overseer (practically second in command, Pastor Reggie’s the main man, I’m the Youth counterpart) of the entire working committee. It was tough. On the first day, I had to take charge over the whole event since Pastor Reggie was out for another speaking engagement. I had to secure each committee was running smoothly. Thank God for the wisdom He graced on me that day, I was able to resolve each concern –from the smallest to the more complicated ones – each Point man (team leader) sought me for. By the time our OEC (Overall Event Coordinator) was back, I just reported what concerns arose and what actions were taken and how it was resolved. He was very pleased. Glory to God.

I practically learn a lot from that event, not only in hands-on leadership but spiritually. It was a call for revival of the church; time to live the life of a true Christian. Take off the mask of hypocrisy and start radical Christian living. The way Christ did. It is what, most of the time, we Christian youth neglect and take for granted. And the conference was a venue to ignite the fire in the hearts of the young people. As we closed the event, we sang a short song that meant it all: God is Awesome. He was and is and will forever be. Praise Him!

Only a week to go before our "Now To Live the Life" youth conference. Everybody's busy. Last Monday, we had an anointing service for all the workers/staff in the event. Young people aged [I think] fourteen to twenty-something years old. I will not forget the words spoken to me by Pastor Reggie as he anoints oil on my head: "May you have the strength of Samson and the wisdom of Solomon as you continue serving the Lord." Amen. Please support us in prayer. We really need it.

God, bless Your people. We claim victory in Your name, Jesus! Amen.

Second Teaching [Preaching]

Ate Eugene, one of my co-leaders in the MYF, asked me to take her place; teaching on Dec 16th Nights of Obsession Service. I’m scheduled to have my second ‘preaching’ to the youth early next year, originally on the first Friday of January. She said there’s a conflict in schedule with her local church so she couldn’t teach that day. I accepted. Now, I have to think of a topic and prepare. Lord, give me wisdom. The first time I taught, we studied 1 Timothy 4:12. Hopefully, it’d be easier for me this time.

Suggestions are welcome. Our aim is to ignite the fire in the hearts of young people. Live for God. I would appreciate your thoughts on this.

registration team training

Monday night was the second training day for the various teams in the upcoming conference. I have to attend all training of all teams to be acquainted with their specific jobs. Yes, I am the overseer. The youth counterpart. Pastor Reggie is preparing me for the big work by 'knowing everything' that will go on during the conference. He said, the bulk of the work will happen on the day itself. He suggests I take ferrous sulfate. HAHA! excessive blood loss is expected. I am approaching low-blood condition. Christ will give me strength! I claim it in Jesus' name.

We only have a few weeks before the conference and time is running fast. We pray for God's favor to flow in us. We are doing this for His glory. Please partner us in prayer. Many thanks.

MYF Youth Conference

The core meeting on Sunday will basically dwell on the upcoming conference. It is themed: Now to Live the Life. This is a four-day conference on December 27-30, with an audience of 5,000 young people coming from all four districts of the province. We’ve been working on this intensely for several months now. And for sure, we deserve a break after.

Monday will be the start of the Staff Training. All workers should undergo the eight-hour training starting Monday, the 14th. This will be four sessions from 6-8 PM at HMI. Excellence in service is required.

All we ever prayed for is for God to move in this event. Without Him, we are nothing.

Pray along for the success of the event for God’s glory.

The Chair sent me a message the other day:

Do not pray to be sheltered from problems but to be fearless in facing them. Don’t be afraid of pain but ask for a heart that conquers it.

Yesterday, a young leader sent me this:

Christian life is difficult—full of duty, puyat (has to stay up late), pagod (tiresome); but if you feel you can’t, just stand up straight, be confident and say, “Kaya ko pa! Buhay na walang hanggan ito, eh!” (I can! It’s eternal life we're up to!)

The moment I got in my place this morning, I pulled the little book from the drawer. The page for today has a title: The Little Evangelist. It shared a story of little neighbor who asks every other child he meets, Do you love Jesus? Below the page says “If you truly love the Lord, you’ll want others to love Him too.”

God really has His proper timing. Last night, a good friend and I were talking about God’s grace –allowing us to receive Him in our lives. And we touched on the issue above, how about the others? I shared with her the things that are expected to happen in the last days—the chaos before Christ comes. It is an alarming scenario I admit and that explains the call to endure and be strong in faith. We don’t want our loved ones to fall in peril. Something has to be done for sure.

Being part of the youth ministry made me realize that if I find myself more effective to serve in a team than testifying one-on-one, I would gladly do so just to be an instrument of God’s purpose. I really want to be a vessel for His Kingdom. And this calls for more discipline on my part.

I pray that God would help me overcome my weakness and walk more faithfully in the path He laid ahead of me. Then some day, I wish to hear people say when asked “Do you love Jesus?” A cheerful and confident, “Yes!”

QUIET TIME

As busy as Jesus was, as consumed as He was by His mission, as overwhelmed as He must have felt at times, He withdrew often to pray. Even when it meant leaving the physical and spiritual needs of the crowds unmet, He withdrew to lonely places. In those quiet and intimate times, Jesus drew strength for what He knew lay ahead.
Jesus knew that time alone with the heavenly Father was essential. He could not – would not – go without it. By escaping the noise of His day, JESUS established a discipline all believers should follow. After all, if it was necessary for Jesus, it is vital for those who profess to follow Him.
